Told in numbered acts (act 1 etc), this beautiful book filled with amazing pictures tells a wonderful tale of fairies , goblin kings and so, on is a perfect read.I recommend this book for research on our topic or to get a look at some manga or both!

Mummy: Is this book about THE Hercules from the Greek Myth or  a different Hercules?

Tom: It is the same Hercules, but a little girl called Susan helps him with his tasks.

Daddy: What is the most frightening beast or monster that Susan and Hercules have to defeat?

Tom: Susan was only with Hercules for 2 tasks and there was not a monster in them. Dad do you have a better question?

Daddy: Okay, sorry. I noticed that there are seven separate short stories in the book. Which one of these stories has the most frightening beast or monster ?

Tom: The story is called Minding Medusa, it is the most scary because Medusa nearly turns Susan to stone.

Daddy: Would you recommend this book to your friends?

Tom: If you liked the ancient Greeks topic you would like this book.

This book is called Born to Run by Michael Morpurgo.

This book is about a dog called Best mate, Bright eyes and Paddywack . The dog is a beautiful greyhound and he has 3 owners called Patrick, Becky and Joe. He starts with Patrick and then moves onto Becky and he moves on to her by… Sorry but you will have to find out your self! At Becky’s farm he is a racing dog and there he makes friends with a dog   called Alfie. But one day Alfie hurts him self and is taken off by an evil owner  called Craig. Luckily Becky sees Craig and jumps on her horse and chases after Craig.  She spots Craig and she sees him carrying something in a wheelbarrow ...Find out what was in the wheelbarrow. So when Becky sees what happens to Alfie she decides to run away. She runs all around the big city until something dreadful happens that separates the 2 of them. Bright eyes finds him self helping his new owner Joe to save something but I am not going to tell you what. They succeed in their quest and then Joe bought a barge, and they lived on it, eating bacon butties and biscuits.

Fortunately the milk by Neil Gaiman - Simeon

This is a book about a  time-travelling dinosaur and a father trying to get some milk for his children, because the mum is away at a conference. He needs to do the shopping. On his journey he meets green aliens, wompires, intergalactic police, and a volcano God called Splod! I'd give this a rating of 10 out of 10 because it is a very very good book because there's a lot of action in it. It's a very fast-moving and fun book, and easy to read.

Oliver and the seawigs by Philip Reeve - Simeon Watts

Oliver and the seawigs is about some islands which move. They meet at a place called the Hallowed Shallows. A seawig is a collection of objects found floating about in the ocean that the islands take to the Hallowed Shallows. The island with the most amazing wig (agreed on by all the other islands) gets to become the island chief for seven years.
This is a book for people that like stories about explorers. I would give it a rating of 7 or 8 out of ten because it is a very funny and jolly story and has sea monkeys in that look a bit like normal monkeys but have webbed feet and hands.

 It is about two girls . One is ordinary and the other is a pop star's daughter .  But still they have one crazy friendship ! The ordinary one is called Destiny , who only has a Mum , she has no siblings .
the famous one is called Sunset ,  who has a Mum and Dad , she has 2 siblings . It is written like a diary . Surprisingly it's written from each girl !!


                           

May Produce Gas (The World of Norm) by Jonathan Meres

It seems the life of Norman never gets any better, with his annoying brothers and his dominant parents. The book never stops to make you laugh, I literally mean it! It just doesn't stop!

I couldn't discover any flaws in this book as it is extremely good and will never disappoint you.
The lousy life of Norm will make you laugh out loud and the pictures are amazingly drawn.
(I almost forgot about them!) Anyway, if books like 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' suit you, then this one is for you!

This is a book about a girl who punishes a family who hunts using her magic finger. In the end, the family vows never to hunt again.

May Be Contagious (The World of Norm)

May be Contagious (The World of Norm book 5), written by Jonathon Meres is a very funny and amazing book to read. I actually loved the book so much that I read the rest of the set!
It is about a boy called Norman who has two extremely annoying brothers called Brian and Dave. Norma slips over and hurts his wrists, which means that his best friend, Mikey, ditches him for someone called Zak ...
I think it is a great, exciting and an amazing book which suits my age group especially for boys. I would say it is for 8 to 13 year olds, and I would rate it a strong 4 out of 5! Only because its starting to get old when he uses the word flipping all the time.

Who is Norm?

Norm is an ordinary average boy, Norm is a 13 year old boy, who believe he is right about everything. His younger brothers are going to be buy a dog, the annoying perfect cousins are overloaded with expensive gear and have the latest new mobile phones, and the girl next door has just posted a photo of him, naked, on Facebook.

 

What is it about?

The world of Norm, may cause irritation is the English version of diary of a wimp kid and is the second book of the series. A continuation from the first book the same characters are solving the same problems, nothing new.

Why do I like it?

Very funny in places and full of humour, text is engaging with drawings and different fonts used in places. It has silly references to poo!

 

Who I would recommend this book to?

A very good book to encourage boys to read.

Ulf,the finger eating troll bites of more than  he can chew when he meets the plucky Gudrun.


Ulf is hump backed and bow legged with a frog face and bat ears and razor sharp teeth.

Every time Ulf spots someone he goes and politely says how do you do.

Ulf is the baddie and the villagers are goodies.


Gudrun has long blonde hair that is plaited. Everyone  in the village except Gudrun has a missing finger.

Ulf thought that the reindeer antler was a hand, he tried to eat it but his teeth shattered and he could not eat a finger ever again instead he suck's them. YUCK!
