Clean Break/Jacqueline Wilson by Isobel

'Clean Break' is about Em, her little sister Vita, her even younger brother Maxie. Their Dad leaves their Mum for a lady called Sarah. Em tells lots of stories to keep her brother and sister happy, and meets her favourite author, Jenna Williams. She also breaks her arm, get a reindeer puppet called Dancer, and is given a real emerald ring by her Dad.

I really like this story, because it is true-to-life and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes Jacqueline Wilson books.

Goth Girl and the Fete Worse Than Death/Chris Riddell by Isobel

This book is all about Ada Goth and her fight against 'The Grocers of the Night'-vampires who want to drink the blood of the best chefs in England, who all happen to be gathered at Ghastly Gorm Hall (where Ada lives) for the 'The Great Ghastly Bake-Off'. The chefs are;
William Flake and his cat Tyger-Tyger
The Hairy Hikers
Nigellina Sugarspoon
Gordon Ramsgate
Miss Mary Huckleberry
Hollyhead
Heston Harboil and his Muscovy Duck Pushkin.

Lucy Borgia, Ada's governess, gives Ada umbrella fencing lessons on the rooftops of Ghastly Gorm Hall. These come in useful at the end of the story.

This book is excellent. I recommend it for children who like spooky twists to their stories.

Horrid Henry's Birthday Party - Nathan Cornborough

This is a story about a boy called Arthur that has a duck, and his duck love worms. So one day when Arthur was at his granddad's house he dug up tonnes of worms. Then his dad had an idea, that he might set up a shop next to their house to sell worms for fishermen. And that's what he did.

So that day he was out and a car passed and lady got out and asked for a long and short. She thought they were selling lemonade, but Arthur pulled out a long worm and a short worm.

Many more people came to buy Arthur's worms. Most people just bought a few, but one day a man came and asked for 450 earthworms for a fishing trip with his friends.

I like Arthur and the earthworms because its a nice and jolly story with lots of funny scenes.

The Clumsies Make A Mess - by Sorrel Anderson. Reviewed by Tom Akerman

This is a good comedy book about two mice, a dog and a elephant, all thinking about the same thing - the most waggy  tail competition. This story is very funny because the human in the story called Howard found a elephant in the storage room. The weakness is that it can get a bit weird. I recommend this book for people who like fun books.

Tom Gates Genius Ideas (Mostly)- Tom Akerman

This book is very funny because in some situations like when he was in the school concert show, Tom Gates' guitar went horribly out of tune. In this book there are some fantastic illustrations and jokes. Looking on the negative side, there was not really a story just a few things that have happened in Tom Gates' life. All in all, I  would give this book a mark of seven out of ten.
