Sylvie's Seahorse - Mara Bergman by Vittoria Kingham

There lived a girl called Sylvie, she always wanted to swim so every Saturday they went swimming, but one Saturday she went with her uncle and her cousin Matt  to the aquarium and she saw seahorses and she loved them. When she did go to the swimming pool she drowned and got scared but the second time she went swimming she was so brave and swam the whole pool. Her mum  taught her how to swim .
I liked this book because it felt like they were talking about me and my mum .

This book is about an alien called Opal Moonbaby who comes down to Earth to complete  her CIA (Carnilian Independence Award). She makes friends with Martha and her younger brother Robbie.
Opal has a special sort of animal called a Mingle, which is a mixture of 6 different animals. Opal needs to have Garnet (the Mingle) next to her at all times otherwise she expires.
When Opal is on Carnilia she lives with her uncle Bixbite who rules over Carnilia and Martha has to protect Opal from the Mercurials, who come from Mercury. They want to steal Opal's eye power so that she has to spend the rest of her life on Planet Drabber and they will be able to take over Carnilia.

If you like funny books about aliens then this book is definitely for you.

Deadly 60s Factbook: Minibeasts, Spiders and Insects - reviewed by Simeon

This book is about tons of deadly creatures and insects. Some as long as your arm. Here are some of my favourite facts in this fact book:

  • They are at the very least 350 species of beetles, more than an other type of animal!
  • The longest stick insect is 56.7cm, possibly as long as your arm!
  • The biggest giant Weta (a bug) weighs up to 71g, more than three times the weight of a house mouse!
  • The ant lion (another bug) digs a conical pit in sandy ground and sits half buried at the bottom, waiting to seize other insects that wander by and tumble into the trap
  • A Hercules Beetle can lift an awesome 850 times its own weight. That's like a human lifting 10 elephants!
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Deadly 60 and likes facts.

Captain Underpants and the big Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy Part 1 and part 2 - reviewed by Simeon

This is another novel of Captain Underpants! It is a very very funny book and it is about a mean boy that's a scientist turning into a giant monster covered in snot, called bionic booger boy. He turns into it when he went home after school, after he had created a Combine-o-tron 2000 and combined himself and a robot. When he was combining he sneezed, so the snot got combined as well! And that's how he turned into the bionic booger boy. He asked Harold and George to make a book about him being very good, and the best and the king. The book was about Melvin, who made a robot monster, and he made tons of new rules about him being the new mayor. There was no humming, no smiling, no talking, no reading signs, no wedgies, no stinky feet, no marveling at nature, no burping, and no stopping to smell the roses.

Part 2 of this story is also very funny, because when Melvin and Captain Underpants changed back to their normal selves, Melvin got the brain of Captain Underpants, and Captain Underpants got the brain of Melvin! The story finishes by Melvin being able to fly and Captain Underpants not being able to fly, even though he can still change into Captain Underpants. And so Melvin smacks Captain Underpants on the bottom with his sheet that he uses as a cape. Then, Harold and George blast Captain Underpants and Melvin with the Combine-O-Tron 2000, and they change back to themselves once again.

Macbeth by shakespare

Once upon a time there was a king called Duncan he was very wise and old.
Suddenly a servant rushed in with a wounded solider covered in dripping blood. Meanwhile Macbeth was fighting bravely. When Duncan heard the news he said that he would hold a feast for Macbeth.
Macbeth wanted to kill Duncan, so that night Macbeth sneaked into Duncans room and stabbed him
right in the heart

This book is very sad and has a lot of killing in it. I liked it because it makes me feel like Im the
king. I read a childrens version of this story so it was easier to understand.

Ratburger by David Walliams - Reviewed by Duncan Reid

Hi there my name is Zoe and I've got a thin looking dad who is nice and friendly.
I've also got a fat step sister who is the size of a bowling ball. So now I've told you some of the characters lets get on with the story. Today I went to school. At lunch I had a burger like always but it
wasn't a burger made by the school because their burgers were disgusting it was a burger made by Burt who apparently always wore dark shaded glasses. The reason I got one from him is
because his are nicer but they are still disgusting. After lunch we did some boring stuff then I went
home. Just before I had gone to sleep I could hear something scuttling in the corner then I saw what it was!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to know what she saw read this book it is brilliant. It is really funny, once you have finished it read more of David Walliams' books.

Captain Underpants and the Preposterous Plight of the Purple Potty People - by Simeon Watts

This is a really good book about three people that have a mirror image of themselves. One Captain Underpants has no hair and the other one has a little block of three strands of hair. The two boys, Harold and George, have a mirror image but they wear the opposite clothes of each other. The proper George and Harold buy a pet called Crackers (a pteradactyl) and a pet hamster that is called Sulu. The evil Harold and George turn Sulu into a giant hamster and Sulu starts destroying a city. Captain Underpants tries to stop her.

In this book there are Flip-O-Rama bits where Captain Underpants tries to take on Sulu but fails. I would recommend this book for someone that likes Captain Underpants. The book is by Dave Pilkey.

Doctor Judy Moody, Megan McDonald by Vittoria kingham

In this story there is a girl called Judy Moody,  she has a medical mood because she loves things about doctors. She does not like school but she likes playing tricks on her brother called Stink.
During this school term she was lucky because their topic was about the human body. They learnt songs , spelling and words. They had a school trip at the hospital and learnt names of  bones and other interesting stuff. I hope this makes you read the book because I found it exiting ad I could not put it down.

Dirty Bertie, FANGS! Written by Alan MacDonald. Reviewed by Simeon

This is a really good book about this boy called Dirty Bertie. And one day he was going to school. It was school book day and he went in as Cunt Dracula. And one of his supply teachers came in as Count Dracula as well. And Bertie thought the teacher he was drinking blood for his lunch. So he decided to steal the teacher's keys and go into his shed so that's what he did. And then the supply teacher came and Bertie locked the supply teacher in the shed and then there was a really weird sound coming from the shed that afternoon. Then the supply teacher came into classroom and he said that Bertie stole his keys and trapped him in his own shed. But Bertie said "But I have proof now!" And the supply teacher said "But proof of what?" "That you are a real vampire" said Bertie. "That was only my tomato soup for lunch" said the teacher.

There are three stories in then book and that was the first one. The second one is about Dirty Bertie going to the hairdresser's and the third one is about Dirty Bertie going to get some new shoes.

I like this book because it is really really funny and it is also quite weird and I like weird books. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes funny books.

The great hamster massacre-by Kate Davies review by Tom Akerman

This book is full of death, beware!!!!!!!!

This book is about a girl who has a cat and really wants some hamsters. Her family had another cat but it died and they replaced it with a new cat which they did not like. The girl's Nan lived with them and she said that she would give them 6 hamsters if she could, but she could not because she was not in charge. One sad day their Nan died and then their Mum said that she would get two hamsters. One night the girl was in bed when she heard a scream. The awful fact was that the hamsters had some babies but they were all dead and one of the adult hamsters had escaped  and the other adult one's leg had been cut off. This book is about finding out who did these gruesome things. And the person who did this all was.... sorry you are going to have to read it to find out.
