Deadly 60s Factbook: Minibeasts, Spiders and Insects - reviewed by Simeon

This book is about tons of deadly creatures and insects. Some as long as your arm. Here are some of my favourite facts in this fact book:

  • They are at the very least 350 species of beetles, more than an other type of animal!
  • The longest stick insect is 56.7cm, possibly as long as your arm!
  • The biggest giant Weta (a bug) weighs up to 71g, more than three times the weight of a house mouse!
  • The ant lion (another bug) digs a conical pit in sandy ground and sits half buried at the bottom, waiting to seize other insects that wander by and tumble into the trap
  • A Hercules Beetle can lift an awesome 850 times its own weight. That's like a human lifting 10 elephants!
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Deadly 60 and likes facts.

  1. I'm slightly concerned that you can get a bug three times the weight of a mouse! Mrs Armstrong
